Joan joined Rotary after being nominated by Barry McConville and seconded by Les Conley.

While Joan was a Bank officer with the ANZ at Panania, she was asked to join the Management Committee of the Panania Senior Citizens Centre. At the Centre, Joan met Barry McConville (Chairman of the Committee) who invited her to join Padstow Rotary.
