A few (power)pointers
Candy and Colin Duff rode from Bundaberg to Brisbane over 9 days. Colin gave a presentation to the Club members, with photos, of the logistics of the ride. Some of his points included:
- They did it to:
- Raise funds - $2,100.00 for the cancel Council and Relay for Life
- Fitness – they rode 80kms a day – done in 4 lots of 20 kilometres with meal breaks in between
- Meet up with friends
- There were 1,200 riders and 300 support crew – it was a massive undertaking of organisation.
- Colin showed a slide show of photos he took during trip.
- One of the photos was of his shirt which had the route of the trip on the front.
- There were St John’s Ambulance people in attendance.
- Logistic Catering were the caterers.
- Toilets and showers were in huge semi trailers.
- A Shimano rep was there to keep the bikes going.
- There were large banks of chargers to recharge everyone’s mobile phones.
- Long queues for meals, showers etc.
- The organisers also provided boxes to pack and freight the bikes home.
