Rotary would not be complete without its youth involvement. A fixture in the calendar every year is the annual Principals & Captains evening, where local school students come to both present the work in which they are involved, and to also learn about the work of Rotary.
Aimie Kovac and Tony Nguyen – Sir Joseph Banks High School
Aimee and Tony spoke on “Opportunities at Joeys”. The first topic was “Joeys Carers”, which is aimed at encouraging students to become aware of, learn about, and participate in the work of community organisations such as the Children’s Cancer Council, Guide Dogs, The Salvation Army, Youth off the Streets, and the Children’s Hospital. Their second topic involved the students assisting in developing primary school kids in various ways.
Kathleen Finneran and Rachel Bertram – East Hills Girls Technical High School
Kathleen and Rachel showed a clever video which they used to background EHGTHS’s new ITC (Information technology & Communication) Centre, and also spoke about the students’ involvement with Mahboba’s Promise, an aid organisation.
