17 April 2007
To the Members of the
Rotary Club of Padstow, NSW, Australia
Dear Fellow Rotarians:
Congratulations to you on your club's 50th anniversary.
Fifty years ago, your club's charter members felt that Rotary's ideal of service to the community was worthy and credible, and for this reason they laid the foundation for a Rotary club in Padstow, NSW, Australia. As you look forward to the future, I ask you to Lead the Way by bringing new members into our great organization. Without new members, Rotary will disappear in only a few decades, and without Rotary, so many needs in our communities and througout the world will go unmet.
The Rotary Club of Padstow is to be congratulated for leading the way in meeting these needs with a variety of productive local and international service projects, to name just a few:
- The Youth Trust established by your club to assist needy young people in the area in reaching their full potential;
- The outstanding record of club members who have served on district committees, Rotary Australia World Community Service committees and on projects in India, Nepal, the Phillipines and Mongolia;
- Development of the first "Save a Life Buzzer Kits" which enabled senior citizens to attract attention to their needs in medical or other emergencies;
- Sponsoring a Rotary Peace Fellow at the University of North Carolina and hosting a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Western Sydney.
Building strong, active clubs will allow Rotary to continue to Lead the Way in showing the world how challenges, needs and intolerance can be overcome through good sense and goodwill. Please join me this year and Lead the Way to a better future through Rotary.
Kind regards,
W.B. "Bill" Boyd
President, Rotary International
