President's Address
The origins of Christmas are many, the way we celebrate and the traditions vary greatly from country to country. In the Christian world it is a time for peace, it is time for families to be together in harmony and a time for us all to give thought to our fellow man and it is a time to think of Christ and the profound effect Christianity has had on the world. For those not of the Christian faith living in our society it is still a time for holidays and relaxation.
2006 has like all years been significant, we have seen some natural disasters and the continuation of human conflict, many family units have experienced personal traumas and many have had joyous moments, all normal expectations in any society. In the main it has been a continuation of life on this planet something that we should count our blessings and be thankful for.
2007 will be another such year; we will see young people embarking on their life's careers and older people moving into retirement, we will experience further advancement in technology and changes that some of us will not comprehend. Unfortunately we will see more human conflict and no doubt disasters that will affect some societies. Above all we must hope that the good out weighs the bad and we must be open minded more than ever about the future. We must remember that no matter how insignificant it seems we as Rotarians can make a difference to someone's life and follow the creed in bettering mankind along with fun and fellowship.
My family and I hope that all of you enjoy this festive season in a way that you would want, we hope that all your hopes for the coming year come to pass and that you can look back on it with satisfaction. I look forward to working and enjoying fellowship with you all again next year and I hope that between us as a club we can achieve our aspirations.
Enjoy a wonderful time this Christmas and our sincere best wishes to you all for the coming year.
