Centurion Program
President Barry Thompson thanks speakers Lyn Tester (District Centurion Program Registrar) and Warwick (Immediate Past District Governor).
Note that Barry is presenting Lyn and Warwick with a certificate which thanks them (for their presentation on the Centurion Program, and lets them know that a gift to the Rotary Foundation has been made in their names.
- Lyn got involved as Registrar as few years ago.
- The Centurion Program is a wonderful way for clubs to meet the $100/member request.
- The idea of the Program is for members to give $100 per year as long as it is affordable.
- Gifts are tax-deductible (cheques should be made out to Australian Rotary Trust).
- When on the Program, donors are recognised with a certificate and a pin.
- This is a once-only recognition, not every year.
- The money goes to The Rotary Foundation into the annual giving program.
- Money can only be used for humanitarian purposes.
- 50% comes back to the District for (eg) GSE teams, matching grants.
- 10% is used in the community from which it came.
- Funds raised from Bankstown Rotary will be used to put in a barbecue at the hospital for use by the families of dementia patients during visits.
- Another project put in play facilities in Emu Plains prison for children during visits.
- Wallacia-Mulgoa will be building a cenotaph.
- Any Rotarian or partner can be a Centurion.
- After about 14 years (depends on the exchange rate) you would be eligible for a PHF.
- Individuals can pool their credit to honour another.
- Lyn's role as Registrar is to track donations.
- Reminder letters are sent to clubs for distribution to Centurions in late January / early February.
- Interim receipts are sent by Lyn, with tax-deductible receipts being sent from Parramatta later.
