DG's visit
District Governor Lloyd Roever (pictured above being thanked by Club President Barry Thompson) spoke on topics as diverse as (amongst others):
- If you ever doubted the impact that Rotary has made on the world, imagine the world without Rotary.
- If Rotary was a human being, it would be at the end of a very long life. Rotary, as an organisation, is just getting started.
- We have impacted the world greatly with polio nearly being eradicated. Is the next challenge HIV?
- The Rotary Foundation deserves more support. When end of year donations are being considered, TRF should be well-supported.
- Membership retention is a problem; if the DG is informed at the time of the induction of a new member, he will invite the new member to District get-togethers designed to make them feel welcome.
- 29 outstanding RYLA participants will be chosen from Australia and NZ to attend next year's ANZAC celebrations at Gallipoli.
