Kokoda Hospital
Michael Kenny shows the gratitude with which the locals at Kokoda received the work done for the local hospital by Rotary; the blanket shown above is worth the price of a bride.
The hospital was established in 1993 and extended in 1997 through grants made by the Australian Government as a memorial to the soldiers and civilians who fought and died on the Kokoda Trail. (For instance, fighting under incredible odds at Isurava resulted in a Victoria Cross, though this isn't recognised as it deserves.) The work to establish the hospital was administered, and largely performed, by Rotarians. Michael's work at the hospital this time included fixing a 75,000 litre water tank, various sewage works, and the repair of a tractor, amongst other tasks.
