Dennis, a private citizen with a passion for fund-raising and awareness-raising for spinal cord injuries complements the work of Demi, the Marketing & Communications Project Manager from Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA). SCIA's work with people with spinal cord injuries involves such things as re-training for jobs, finding jobs, advocacy, and access auditing. Additionally, a home is planned for Collaroy, but only $1m of the total $4m price tag has been raised to date. SCIA also monitors accidents for the RTA so that statistics may be collated which enable black spots to be rectified, while at the same time raising funds for SCIA and, hopefully, reducing the number of people who may acquire a spinal cord injury. Demi was supported at the meeting by Monica, Marketing & Communications Co-ordinator for SCIA.
