The Rotary Club Of Padstow Advancement Program
What are we trying to do?
The aim of the Program is to provide assistance to young people in our Rotary Club’s area to help them achieve their full potential in their chosen field. The Program will provide assistance for a variety of endeavours, such as developing skills to assist in obtaining employment and nurturing exceptional talent in various areas (for example: sport, performing arts, literature, science, languages, mathematics, economics, information technology, ecology, and so on). The Program will also assist in developing leadership skills and maximising opportunities for disabled youth. We also support appropriate projects being conducted by other agencies and schools.
Who will the Program assist?
Projects which assist young people, aged up to 25, who are residents of Padstow, Revesby, Panania, East Hills, Milperra, or Picnic Point, are eligible for support. Application forms can be obtained from:
The Rotary Club of Padstow Advancement Program
PO Box 56
PADSTOW 2211
or by telephoning Barry Thompson on 9771-5189.
How will the assistance be provided?
The Program invests its funds in secure Trustee-approved investments. Each year such funds as determined by the officers of the Program will be distributed to successful applicants as one year financial awards. In some instances, the Program may continue to support beyond one year, provided that significant benefit can be demonstrated from the assistance.
By-Laws establishing the Program (Article XIX (c))
The Club shall establish a fund to be called The Rotary Club of Padstow Advancement Program to which the following rules will apply:
The Program is designed and intended to create, establish, manage, and administer a fund to be applied towards the support of youth programs and individual deserving cases in the Padstow Rotary Club area for persons up to and including twenty-five years of age, to assist in their pursuit of excellence in academic, cultural, creative, or physical areas which will benefit the community, or to support the welfare and advancement of disadvantaged young people or otherwise as is within the spirit of the Rotary movement.
Election of officers of the Program
The Club shall, at its annual general meeting, elect four members of the Club who shall be responsible for all aspects of the operation of the Program, including the investment of funds, the dispersal of funds to the beneficiaries of the Program, and for reporting to the Club on the operation of the Program.
If the Program is wound up
In the event of the Program being dissolved, the amount which remains after such dissolution and the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall not be paid to or distributed among the members of the Program or the members of the Rotary Club of Padstow, but shall be paid and applied by the Program in accordance with its powers to any organisation which has similar objects to the Program and which has rules prohibiting the distribution of assets and income to its members.
